How Mortgage Pundit collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information, in line with the Privacy Act 2020.

Who we are

Mortgage Pundit is a trading name of Financial Hub Limited (FSP778359). We give advice on home loans and business lending under the licence of NZ Financial Services Group Limited (NZFSG) (FSP286965). In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Mortgage Pundit.

We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how we handle your personal information when you use our website or our services.

What information we collect

To give you advice and arrange lending, we may collect:

• your name, date of birth, contact details and identity documents;
• your employment, income, expenses, assets and debts;
• details of the property, business or asset you want to finance;
• your credit history and credit reports;
• any other information you give us, or that a lender needs to assess your application.

When you visit our website, we may also collect information such as your IP address, browser type and pages visited, through cookies and analytics tools.

How we collect it

We collect most information directly from you. With your authorisation, we may also collect information from lenders, credit reporting agencies, your employer, your accountant or lawyer, valuers and other people involved in your application.

If you give us information about another person, such as a co-borrower or guarantor, please make sure they know and agree.

How we use it

We use your information to:

• understand your needs and give you advice;
• prepare and submit loan applications to lenders on your behalf;
• meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including anti-money laundering and financial advice rules;
• contact you about your lending, for example when a fixed rate is ending;
• improve our website and services.

We will only send you marketing messages if you have agreed to receive them, and you can opt out at any time.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it, where needed for the purposes above, with:

• lenders and other product providers you choose to apply to;
• NZFSG, our licence holder, for compliance and quality checks;
• credit reporting agencies, valuers, lawyers and accountants involved in your application;
• service providers who help us run our business, such as IT, document storage and client management systems;
• regulators, dispute resolution schemes and others where the law requires or allows it.

Some of our service providers may store information outside New Zealand. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected to a standard comparable to New Zealand law.

How we protect and keep it

We take reasonable steps to keep your information secure and protect it from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. We keep it only for as long as we need it for the purposes above and as the law requires, and then dispose of it securely.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it. To make a request, contact our Privacy Officer using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity first.

Our website uses cookies to help it work properly and to understand how visitors use it. You can turn off cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the website may not work as well.
